Environmental Education Camp under the Plastic Free Campus (PFC) Project at Lalmatia Girls High School

Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) arranged the first training session of the environmental education camp as part of the Plastic Free Campus (PFC) project’s was held at Lalmatia Girls High School on 10 and 11, May 2023.

The event was included an opening ceremony and a two-day environmental education camp. Participants at the opening event included the principal, teachers, and students of Lalmatia Girls High School, as well as representatives from the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (DSHE), Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTBL), and the ESDO Board members. The children participated in the workshops organized by ESDO where they learned about plastic pollution, its effects, how it entered our lives, substitutes for single-use plastic, the zero-waste idea, the 4R concept, etc.

In addition, ESDO planned student activities like role plays on plastic pollution and awareness raising, poster presentations on zero-waste homes and schools, reduce, reuse, and refill, home composting, as well as outdoor activities like waste collecting, identification, and segregation. In the storytelling session on the plastic waste they observed around their campus area, they also participated in part. Participants were very excited to discover new ideas, and they actively engaged in all of the sessions.
