As you know, ESDO has been working towards “Plastic Pollution-Free World” since 1990. ESDO is the pioneer of banning plastic bag movement and Bangladesh is the first country to ban plastic bag in 2002. In 2017, we initiated a global movement to ban the manufacture and use of single-use plastic worldwide. Recent trend indicates that, there has been significant progress in the global anti-SUP movement. Number of countries including Bangladesh has taken initiatives to ban single use plastic. In 6 January 2020, High court division of the Supreme Court in Bangladesh has ordered the government to ban single use plastic by 2022 and strictly enforce polythene bag ban law throughout the country.

ESDO believes that, activists, institutions and organizations from around the world should put more coordinated efforts to strengthen the global movement to ban SUP. To work together, we need to share each other’s ideas, knowledge, experiences, opinion and suggestions. Hence, a common platform is needed to build network and alliance among the individuals and organizations working in this respect.
