The fourteenth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal (OEWG-14) is taking place from 25 June to 28 June 2024 at the International Conference Center Geneva (CICG). The meeting is preceded by Bureau and regional meetings held on 24 June 2024.

Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of the Environment and Social Development Organization – ESDO, and Siddika Sultana, Executive Director of ESDO, attend the webinar. ESDO intervenes on the Technical guidelines on the environmentally sound management of waste lead-acid batteries and provides comments on agenda item 3.b.iv UNEP/CHW/OEWG.14/INF/15 – Further consideration of plastic waste. Additionally, Siddika Sultana participates as a speaker at the side event discussing the status, potentials, and risks of chemical recycling of waste plastics.
