Volunteer Orientation for Brand Audit-2023 of Single-use Plastic

Environment Social and Development Organization (ESDO) organized a volunteer orientation for a Brand Audit of single-use plastic in Dhaka and Rangpur cities in 26th and 27th September of 2023. This event aimed to raise awareness among local people about the environmental impact of single-use plastics.

The aim of these orientation to share ideas about plastic pollution and how to participated in the brand audit event. Volunteers should identify and catalog the types and sources of plastic waste found in a particular area. Volunteers may collect and document information about the brands and products associated with this plastic waste. By doing so, the organization can raise awareness about the companies responsible for producing these single-use plastics and advocate for greater responsibility in managing plastic waste.

Conducting a brand audit for single-use plastics involves systematically collecting data about the types and sources of plastic waste found in a particular area. The goal is to identify and document the brands and products associated with this plastic waste. ESDO team member explained the brand audit process, data collection techniques, safety protocols, and the importance of the project. Divide the area into sections and assign teams of volunteers to different locations. Give instruction to the volunteers to pick up and document all plastic waste they encounter, noting the details on the data cards. Ensure that safety guidelines are followed, especially when handling potentially hazardous waste.
