In a concerted effort to cultivate a sustainable future, the Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO undertake on a transformative journey towards a Plastic-Free Campus (PFC). This initiative recently unfolded in the vibrant city of Rajshahi, where ESDO conducted an enlightening environmental education camp at Laxmipur Girls High School and Prothom Alo Trust Alor Pathshala on December 9, 2023. This impactful session aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat plastic pollution and promote a sustainable way of life.
ESDO’s intervention at the two educational institutions in Rajshahi was characterized by a series of engaging and educational activities. The organization’s dedicated team orchestrated sessions designed to enhance students’ understanding of the pervasive issue of plastic pollution. The comprehensive curriculum covered topics such as the consequences of plastic pollution, the ubiquitous presence of plastic in daily life, alternatives to single-use plastic, the concept of zero-waste living, and the 4R approach—refuse, reduce, reuse, and refill.
ESDO’s Plastic-Free Campus project in Rajshahi, generously sponsored by Mutual Trust Bank Limited, has achieved commendable success. The initiative has been extended to 10 schools across 5 divisions, benefitting approximately 500 students. By imparting knowledge and instilling a sense of responsibility, ESDO aims to empower these students to become advocates for the eradication of plastic pollution in Bangladesh.
