Consultation with SME on the issue of “Environmental and Social Impacts of Plastic Pollution: Importance of Transitioning to Plastic Alternatives”

On September 16, 2023, the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) organized a “Consultation with Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs)” at ESDO’s Head office. These businesspeople are masters in creating products that lessen environmental harm. Their experience and knowledge can help businesses and policymakers make decisions that are ethical and sustainable. The SME Consultation lays the groundwork for the upcoming national fair, facilitating group action and bringing attention to the pressing need to reduce plastic pollution.

In the previous year, ESDO held three local fairs and one national fair at Dhaka, Rangpur and Betgari union, all of which featured environmentally friendly products and packaging for a sustainable future. This year, ESDO will conduct a National Fair dedicated to single-use plastic substitute items, giving creative businesspeople a crucial venue to display their eco-friendly replacements for single-use plastics. Our main goal is to spread the word about these eco-friendly substitutes and increase awareness of the negative effects single-use plastics have on society and the environment. The success of the expo was made possible thanks to the entrepreneurs’ insightful comments and suggestions. By working together with suppliers of alternatives to single-use plastic, we hope to accelerate the transition to a more environmentally responsible and sustainable future.
